The Glendale Centre Theatre presents Ernest Thompson’s Academy Award-winning comedy-drama On Golden Pond. Starring stage and screen veterans Andrew Prine and Salome Jens, the humorous and heartwarming play centers on Norman and Ethel, a long-married elderly couple who spend their summers at their beloved lake home. When their estranged daughter arrives for Norman’s 80th birthday celebration with her fiance and his son in tow, bitterness over childhood wrongs mars the reunion. After agreeing to host the boy for the summer, Norman and Ethel are compelled to reexamine their past and redefine their twilight years together on Golden Pond. The play won three Tony Awards in its original Broadway run, and the 1981 film adaptation received 10 Oscar nominations, with wins for its stars Henry Fonda and Katherine Hepburn, as well as writer Thompson.
