Theatrum Elysium celebrates the inauguration of its new outdoor stage with a bold and exciting new production of one of Shakespeare’s lesser known plays, Cymbeline. With elements of fairy tale romance and epic adventure, Cymbeline is an exciting and vibrant tale. Artistic Director Aaron Ganz rises to the occasion, presenting a bold, spirited and fresh take on the familiar theatrical themes of forbidden romance, betrayal, and the mayhem of war. Cymbeline blends tragedy, combat, fantasy and broad comedy into a plot filled with twists and turns, centering on the banished princess Imogen. She is falsely accused of adultery, and embarks on a courageous journey to reclaim her good name and reunite with her true love. Theatrum Elysium’s portrayal of her daring quest includes expressive choreography, riveting music, explosive battle scenes, and a narrator to guide audiences through the flurry of adventure and romance.
