Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Mosaic's featured starlet this year is Toronto theatre and film celebrity actress Anita Majumdar, female protagonist of internationally acclaimed Canadian director Deepa Mehta's movie adaptation of Salman Rushdie's novel 'Midnight Children', that will debut this year at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Anita will be speaking on a panel about her success from stage to screen.
 
The seventh year of the MOSAIC Film festival is bringing you the best in South Asian cinema from festivals around the world. We have selections from Cannes, TIFF, SAIFF and Hot Docs to name a few. This year we will be premiering the Oscar winning film ‘Saving Face’ by Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy as well as ‘Doubles With Slight Pepper’ by Ian Harnarine that was awarded best Canadian short film of 2011 at TIFF.
 
Celebrated Canadian filmmaker Richie Mehta of 'Amal' fame will be offering a directors' talk and sitting on the jury along with former Hot Docs programmer Karina Rotenstein and Concordia Univerisy professor Dr. David Douglas.
 
There will also be a RELOAD documentary project done by seniors using video equipment that wasn't around during their salad days.
 
MOSAIC South Asian Film Festival will be programmed over 4 eventful days from Aug 16-19, 2012. It will be one that caters to the young and old and features programming from South Asia, Europe, The Americas and the Caribbean making it a festival truly representing the South Asian diaspora.
 
There will also be an outdoor screening of the Bollywood film 'JAB WE MET' starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor  on Aug 16.
 
This year we will be recognizing our talent and awarding prizes in the categories of best film, producer, director, sound, editing, documentary, production design, performer and music, We will also be recognizing excellence for the best social justice and human rights film.

MOSAIC is Mississauga's premier annual and free multi-dimensional festival. There will be lots of other activities going on before and after these screenings and talk sessions. A panoply of food stalls with taste-bud tantalizing cuisines and a bazaar offering a mother lode of curios, knick-knacks, costume jewelry, clothes, henna and much much more will also be on hand.
