Theatre Raymond Kabbaz, Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA)
Bélo, Haiti’s most recognizable and popular young music star, is a singer-songwriter with a strong social conscience. He has sung passionately and eloquently about life in Haiti and the struggles that its people face. His music is a mixture of jazz, world beat, rock, reggae and Afro-Haitian traditional rhythms known as ragganga. Beloved in his home country, he’s also very popular in Europe, where he’s won several awards. He has been called Haiti’s ambassador of music for his success at bringing the island’s music, and its story, to the world.
