Eclectic rocker Joe Jackson and the Bigger Band hit the stage with music from his latest album The Duke, featuring his unique interpretations of Duke Ellington classics, plus a catalog of hits that span his career from the 1970s to now. Known for his wide range of styles, his hits of the ’80s ranged from the pop-with-attitude sound of “Is She Really Going Out With Him?” to the salsa-influenced “Steppin’ Out” with stops in between to visit the reggae sound and blues revival. Innovative jazz violinist Regina Carter, whose newest album Reverse Thread is a joyful and contemporary take on African folk melodies, opens the show.
