L.A. Jazz Tribute Awards Honor Wayne Shorter

Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City (Universal City, CA)

Jazz saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter plays with pianist Danilo Perez at this Los Angeles Jazz Society tribute awards show honoring Shorter and others for their musical accomplishments. Shorter is generally acknowledged to be jazz’s greatest living composer and many of his compositions have become standards, earning him worldwide fame, critical praise and multiple Grammy Awards. Other honorees and performers include vocalist Denise Donatelli, who will perform with her trio and arranger/composer Gordon Goodwin, who will play with the Big Phat Band. Accepting the honor for Lifetime Achievement is jazz guitarist John Pisano, who has played alongside all the greats from Frank Sinatra to Barbara Streisand. Jamael Dana Dean will receive the honor for New Talent. Dean is a 14-year-old jazz pianist who is already creating a sensation in the Los Angeles jazz scene. Enjoy all of these great talents in one evening of live performances.
