Blues singer/harmonica player Rod Piazza and his multiple W.C. Handy Award-winning band The Mighty Flyers play a show at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach. Since the 1960s, when he led groups like the Dirty Blues Band and Bacon Fat, Piazza has had a reputation as a peerless harmonica player. The Mighty Flyers recorded their first album in 1980, and since then, they’ve won or been nominated for just about every award that can be bestowed upon a blues band. With thousands of shows around the world and a dozen albums to their credit, their blend of Chicago blues, West Coast swing and rock ‘n’ roll rhythm has made them modern-day blues royalty. The concert also features Hound Dog Dave and the Meltones, with 20-year-old guitar prodigy Johnny Oskam opening the show.
