In Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy, Prince Hamlet returns home to Denmark following the death of his father to find that his uncle now occupies both the throne and his mother’s bed. Haunted by the vengeful ghost of his father and surrounded by spies, Hamlet struggles with his duty as a prince and son. He knows he should take action against his murderous uncle, but finds himself reluctant to do so. The Broad Stage welcomes Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre to Santa Monica to perform their fresh, fast, and youthful staging of one of the most famous plays in theater history. Brimming with existential angst, Oedipal impulses, and paranormal activity, this is Hamlet as you’ve never seen it before, performed by one of the best Shakespeare companies in the world.
