Sacred Fools Theater presents The Coarse Acting Show. This hilarious collection of short plays is performed by a fictitious actor training program, The Los Angeles Dramatic Series. In a parody of the works of five classic writers, the ensemble cast earnestly demonstrates the methods of acting required for the “Greek” tragedy, the “Shakespearean” historical drama, the “Chekhovian” drama, theater of the “Absurd” and “Opera.” According to playwright Michael Green, a coarse actor is “one who can remember his lines, but not the order in which they come … His hope is to be dead by Act Two so that he can spend the rest of his time in the bar. His problems? Everyone else connected with the production.”
