The Wilshire Ebell Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)

City Ballet of Los Angeles shakes things up for the holidays with their new twist on the traditional holiday ballet, The Nutcracker Swings. The familiar Tchaikovsky score mingles with the swinging sounds of Duke Ellington’s jazzy take on The Nutcracker Suite in this version of the story set in Los Angeles’ Hancock Park in the 1940s. Maria is given a nutcracker by her love Jim, a soldier home for the holidays. The gift triggers a magical journey around the world and into a holiday wonderland. This ballet features young performers from the City Ballet school as well as members of the ballet company.
