Actor Larry Cedar stars in the Porters of Hellsgate production of King Lear. Cedar played opium addict Leon on the HBO series Deadwood, and is an award-winning theater vet with a long resume. Believed by many to be Shakespeare’s greatest play, King Lear depicts an aging monarch’s descent into madness as his family and country are torn apart by the ambition and jealousy of his children. Set against an industrial, barren landscape, this Porters production is directed by Thomas Bigley, who has chosen a militaristic style to portray this seminal tragedy.
