JazzReach’s Metta Quintet Performs Big Drum/Small World

The New York City-based, jazz-oriented arts group JazzReach presents its Metta Quintet live at Armstrong Theatre at Torrance Cultural Arts Center. The group will perform a globally themed program dubbed Big Drum/Small World that’s meant to show how jazz continues to unite people around the globe. This family-friendly event features diverse composers and pieces that fuse the American jazz tradition with the indigenous music of a variety of other countries, including West Africa (Lionel Loueke), Israel (Omer Avital), Cuba (Yosvany Terry), Puerto Rico (Miguel Zenon) and India (Rudresh Mahanthappa).
