Contemporary Dance by Compagnie Etant Donné: En aparté
Theatre Raymond Kabbaz, Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA)
Meant to be enjoyed by the entire family, this charming duet by the French modern-dance ensemble Compagnie Etant Donné transforms the often-dull routines of everyday life — from taking a shower to doing the dishes — into a series of beautiful sounds and movements. En Aparté, which roughly translates to “in separate,” turns the monotonous into the marvelous. The company comes to L.A. from its home in Rouen, France, where its unique style of contemporary dance takes its inspiration from “independent film, Dadaism, literary theory and humor.”
