Alex Theatre (Glendale, CA)
Legendary pianist-songwriter Burt Bacharach discusses his new memoir, Anyone Who Had a Heart: My Life and Music, with best-selling author Mitch Albom (Tuesdays With Morrie). A classically-trained pianist, Bacharach is a true force in 20th-century pop music, racking up three Oscars, eight Grammys, an Emmy and a Tony nod. He’s composed more than 70 Top 40 hits, many with his lyricist partner Hal David for vocalist Dionne Warwick and other stars, including such blockbuster singles as “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” “Anyone Who Had a Heart,” “The Look of Love,” “Close to You,” “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head,” “What’s New, Pussycat?” and so many more. The musician’s just-released tome talks about those collaborations, along with his more tumultuous personal ones — including marriages to Angie Dickinson and Carole Bayer Sager, and his daughter Nikki’s 2007 suicide.
