Highways Performance Space’s new play The Gentlemen draws inspiration from the 1939 film The Women, recasting the all-female cast of that landmark movie with gay men and updating the setting to modern-day West Hollywood. The play centers around romantic idealist Carlito, whose life is turned upside-down when a gossipy pal tricks him into discovering that his husband is cheating on him with a young internet sensation. Scandal ensues, relationships are tested and new loyalties are formed as the drama unfolds with both hilarity and heart. The Gentlemen is the latest installment of Behold!, Highways’ ongoing queer performance series that includes performance, dance, theater, comedy and more.
