Sneakers have become a universal part of everyday fashion worldwide. More than any other type of footwear, the sneaker has transcended issues of gender, age, and socio-economic conditions to become the footwear of choice for millions. However, under the broad category of sneaker lies a minefield of meaning that makes ones choice of sneaker full of social significance. Join us as Elizabeth Semmelhack, exhibition curator for Out of the Box, explores the history of the sneaker and the rise of sneaker culture. A short tour of Out of the Box: The Rise of Sneaker Culture will follow the talk. COST: $ 10 in advance; $ 14 at the door; Free for BSM members.
