The Independent Shakespeare Co. presents its summer Shakespeare festival featuring Macbeth, As You Like It and 18th century comedy She Stoops to Conquer. The story of an aristocratic soldier’s rise — and inevitable fall — thanks to witches, crime and murder, Macbeth stands among Shakespeare’s most twisted and tragic tales. As You Like It is one of Shakespeare’s greatest comedies, a fast-paced, light-hearted tale of adventure and romance featuring thwarted lovers, a clown, cross-dressing and a host of comical twists and turns. And Oliver Goldsmith’s She Stoops to Conquer is a comedy that has it all: romance, mistaken identity, a thrilling chase scene and a love song to liquor. It’s a big-hearted, exhuberant romp and the perfect way to spend a summer evening in the park. In an exciting Goldstar exclusive, members will be seated in a special reserved front section for this free-to-the-public event in Griffith Park’s beautiful natural amphitheater.
