Father’s Day John Wayne Double Feature and Book Signing

Two John Wayne westerns about family come to the Egyptian Theatre, with John Wayne’s son and co-star Patrick signing copies of his new book John Wayne: The Genuine Article. First up is Big Jake, one of the Duke’s best latter-day westerns. The film centers on a former gunfighter who sets out to rescue his kidnapped grandson from a ruthless outlaw (Richard Boone). One of the many classic John Ford/John Wayne westerns, Rio Grande will follow. The last of the “cavalry trilogy,” it follows a Union officer training a group of settlers and his estranged son, a new army recruit, to defend themselves against raiding Apaches. Maureen O’Hara co-stars. Patrick Wayne will be signing books in the lobby at 6:30pm, followed by the screenings.
