FRIDAY, JUNE 21 – 9pm COMEDY, CABARET, AND COFFEE TALK with RYAN G. HINDS: THE PRIDE EDITION Feat. LUCAS SILVEIRA, JAIME WOO, and AXEL BLOWS Award-winning performance artist Ryan G. Hinds monthly cabaret/chat show returns to kick off your pride week . The sassy blend of music, laughs, and chatter has earned raves from The Grid (Hinds is hilarious; makes a great case for the lost art of cabaret in Toronto. His show made me giddy! – Paul Aguirre-Livingston) and Indecent Xposure (a one-of-a-kind side-splitting spectacle. Hinds is clever, comical and musically well-endowed and the coffee talk element of his show brings a unique sense of intimacy – Chantal Da Silva). This month, Hinds welcomes: Lucas Silveira: The front-man and songwriter of The Cliks, Lucas is currently promoting the release of their latest album Black Tie Elevator in Canada and the United States. Outside of The Cliks, Lucas has released a solo CD of covers and two originals titled Mockingbird (2011) and also plays bass with Hill And The Sky Heroes. When hes not creating music, Lucas can be found drawing and painting, acting, writing and doing public speaking events at Colleges & Universities on his personal story and experiences. Lucas currently lives in Toronto, Canada with his beautiful fiance Skye Chevolleau. Skye can be heard singing on the track “4 Letter Words” on Black Tie Elevator. Jaime Woo has written about community, technology, videogames, and queer culture for places like the Financial Post, Grid, Torontoist, Xtra, and In Toronto. His first book “Meet Grindr: How One App Changed The Way We Connect,” which explores the influence of design in hookup apps on their users., was published in early 2013. It has been featured in the New York Times, NPR’s “On The Media,” and at the SXSW Festival. Axel Blows is the sizzling burlesque creation of Philadelphia native Chy Ryan Spain (a 2013 Dora nominee for Buddies in Bad Times Of A Monstrous Child) and has been variously described as an artiste, a pole dancing ingenue, an activist, a semi-professional sexologist, a professional homosexual, and a boy toy. He has graced events such as Virgins Again, The Feminist Porn Awards, Crush TO, Work It! and scads more sexy parties! COMEDY, CABARET, AND COFFEE TALK with RYAN G.
