Hollywood Bowl (Hollywood, CA)
Experience epic sonic thrills at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s rendition of two of Ottorino Respighi’s most notable works. Respighi had an aimless, jack-of-all-musical-trades career before he moved to Rome in 1913 to teach composition. Rome was then the center of orchestral life in Italy, and in 1916 Respighi completed Fountains of Rome, a colorful four-part symphonic tone poem that brought him fame and wealth. He followed that work with the even-more-successful 1924 sequel, Pines of Rome. The L.A. Phil also performs works by Liszt, and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet performs Liszt’s devilish Dance of Death.
