Local dance company Blue13 brings its latest mashup of Bollywood/bhangra dance and pop culture to the Ford Amphitheatre in Hollywood. Expect lots of action and energy from Blue13, who are known for re-imagining classic stories into an extravaganza of multi-genre and multi-ethnic dance styles. In their latest piece, they reboot Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story. Cultures and dance styles clash in this timeless love story where Hip-hop Capulets battle it out on the dance floor with Bollywood Montagues. The cast of more than talented 20 dancers perform American street dance, Bhangra (a Punjabi folk dance) and other classical Indian dance styles. Choreographed by Achinta McDaniel, Fire & Powder features live drumming and a rousing urban Indian soundtrack.
