This fun Broadway musical featuring catchy, upbeat tunes won eight Tony Awards in 2003 and inspired a new major motion picture musical. It’s 1962, and pleasantly plump teen Tracy Turnblad and her friend Penny Pingleton are watching the popular Corny Collins show. When Tracy gets the chance to dance on the show, she quickly seizes the opportunity and lands a coveted spot — angering snotty teen dance queen Amber Von Tussle and her mother. Tracy takes issue with the show’s blatant racial segregation and decides to do something about it. In the process, she transforms from shunned outsider to local teen celebrity — and everyone learns important lessons along the way. To add to the outrageous musical fun, the matinee performance on Sunday, July 28th will be a special sing-along show, with contests for the best ’60s costume, highest hair and more.
