The GRAMMY Museum (Los Angeles, CA)
Hurray For The Riff Raff’s very name evokes joy, a feeling that extends into the band’s shimmering blend of dusty roots music and Dylan-esque folk. Bronx native Alynda Lee Segarra leads the group with smoky vocal stylings that seem wise beyond her 26 years. At age 17, the Bronx native left home to hitch cross-country, landing in New Orleans where she fell in love with the city and a musical culture grounded in deeply soulful traditional influences. Hurray For The Riff Raff’s latest album, Small Town Heroes, is a reflection of her reverence for the city. As part of the GRAMMY Museum’s ongoing Americana music program, the band takes the stage to discuss their work and play a special musical performance.
