For a piece entitled FEED Me, Barbara T. Smith once sat naked in a museum bathroom with incense, body oils, shawls, poetry, music and a mattress covered with an oriental rug. A recorded chant instructed visitors to “feed” her, but providing no further instruction. Now, more than 40 years later, Smith “sets the record straight” on this pioneering work in What You Need to Know. Collaborating with a new generation of artists, Smith works with Corazon del Sol, Kate Johnson and Kate Crash on this this performance/installation that’s a part of Highways’ 25th “Silver Jubilee.” See event description for more information on this sure to be riveting event.
