A titan of jazz now in his sixth decade as a performer, Herbie Hancock returns to the Hollywood Bowl backed by an orchestra. Hancock’s one of jazz’s most accessible masters, with a bevy of crossover hits, a back catalog that includes covers of songs by Nirvana, the Beatles, Prince and George Gershwin, and collaborations with the likes of Joni Mitchell and Stevie Wonder. He even introduced DJ scratching to the mainstream with his synth-heavy 1983 single “Rockit.” With the addition of an orchestra and guest singer Gregory Porter (a fellow Grammy Award winner), this concert looks to reimagine Hancock’s sound yet again.
