The music of Ella, Etta, Billie and Beyoncé heats up The Joint is Jumpin’, Vox Femina’s jazzy new concert. From smoldering standards like “At Last” and “A-tisket, A-Tasket” to contemporary party-starters like “Crazy in Love,” Vox Femina — one of the nation’s premier all-female choruses — performs numbers guaranteed to get heads bobbing and toes tapping. Joining the fun will be special guest bassist Jennifer Leitham. Famed for her legendary work with Mel Torme, Doc Severinsen, Peggy Lee, k.d. lang and many others, Leitham is a regular at both Carnegie Hall and The Hollywood Bowl. Long recognized as a virtuoso of the upright bass, she recently became a movie star as the subject of I Stand Corrected, a 2012 documentary about her decision to undergo sexual reassignment surgery.
