Queer Classics Presents: "The Importance of Being Earnest"

Oscar Wilde was a writer with brilliance to burn, but even he never surpassed The Importance of Being Earnest, perhaps the wittiest play to ever grace the stage. This clever Queer Classics reimagining of Wilde’s comic masterpiece recasts the four lovers as dashing gay men, making the play more hysterically fabulous than Wilde could’ve imagined in his lifetime. Called a “trivial comedy for serious people,” the play finds two young bachelors, Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, taking on the same “Ernest” alias in hopes of wooing the objects of their affection. The scheme, of course, goes comically awry, leading to outrageous — and hilarious — repercussions.
