Odyssey Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)

"The Human Spirit"

Following the devastating death of her husband, mother and brother within the same month in 2006, playwright Carole Eglash-Kosoff spent part of two years teaching in the black townships of South Africa. Based on her book of the same name documenting her life-changing experiences, The Human Spirit tells the true life stories of an amazing array of men and women who have devoted their lives during the worst years of apartheid to help the townships’ children, the elderly and the disabled citizens. Some toiled publicly, but most worked tirelessly in the shadows to improve the welfare of the non-white populations who had been neglected for nearly half of the century.
