Though the Los Angeles Chamber Singers Sextet’s latest concert is called Summer & Winter in Bavaria don’t expect a sweaty Oom-pah band or an abundance of lederhosen. Instead, L.A.’s Grammy-winning chamber choir will be singing the transcendent compositions of Orlandus Lassus (1532 – 1594) Often ranked with Palestrina as one of the most influential composers of the 16th century, Lassus was a marvel of musical productivity, composing masses, and magnificats of the unsurpassed beauty. Now the Sextet will sing selections form the first and last decades of his years in Munich working under the patronage of the Dukes of Bavaria.
