First Presbyterian Church of Santa Monica (Santa Monica, CA)
The Grammy-winning Los Angeles Chamber Singers Octet promises to paint a thrilling thematic vocal portrait, with a delicate brush of high and low tones and divergent textures and moods, in its latest challenging program of 16th-century choral music. Playing off the Italian art term chiaroscuro, signifying the use of bold contrasts, the eight-voice ensemble shows off its amazing range on William Byrd’s complex Mass for Four Voices and four motets for double choir from composers like Lassus and Victoria, to represent the dichotomy between light and dark and good and evil. Please see the full event description for details on the program.
