Museum of Latin American Art (Long Beach, CA)
Part of the Summer Sundays concert series at the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA), showcasing the best in Afro-Cuban music, A Charanga Soiree puts the spotlight on the traditional Cuban dance music that was first popularized in the ’40s. Charanga is marked by danceable beats, lively polyrhythms and a strong presence of violins and flute. Perhaps no band exemplifies this vibrant form better than Orquesta Tipica Novel, who’ve been bringing their infectious rhythms to music lovers around the globe for nearly 50 years. During concert intermissions, guests will enjoy the salsa and bachata sounds of DJ Jojo and his Mambo Madness.
