"Dying for Deco: Dracula's Daughter"

Not only is the Egyptian Theatre celebrating the anniversary of its 1922 grand opening with complimentary cake, but American Cinematheque and the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles are taking you back to that glorious time period as well with a screening and design talk. The hour-long presentation Dying for Deco offers a Halloween-season look at funerary decorations in the 1920s and ’30s, which drew from the stunning style of that era, and includes a display of related relics and even embalming fluid bottles from the time. That program’s followed by a 35mm screening of the 1936 gothic horror film Dracula’s Daughter, starring Gloria Holden, cited by author Anne Rice as one of her inspirations for the novel The Queen of the Damned.
