Sci-Fi Satire of Immigration Debate — A One-Man Show
Los Angeles Theatre Center (Los Angeles, CA)

With an innovative “sci-fi Latino-noir” aesthetic, Aliens, Immigrants & Other Evildoers satirizes the hypocrisy surrounding the immigration debate. Fueled by the current Central American child refugee crisis and the continued demonization of Latino immigrants, New Orleans performance artist José Torres-Tama (The Cone of Uncertainty) spoofs the view of immigrants as “alien,” dehumanized and shunned by the system that relies on their labor. This vibrant and timely show is part of LATC’s month-long Encuentro festival, celebrating the best in Latino theater from across country.
