Los Angeles Theatre Center (Los Angeles, CA)
Part of the 2014 Encuentro theater festival — which has been billed as “the most significant gathering of Latina/o theater artists” — Patience, Fortitude, and Other Anti-Depressants comes to the stage courtesy of Unit52. A new actors initiative from the renowned Latino theater company INTAR, Unit52 is a company of actors who train one day a week, year round, and study under master teachers, theater artists and special guests. This show’s “urban riff” on Federico García Lorca’s tragic Yerma was written by Mariana Carreño King (Ofelia’s Lovers) and created through improvisations and discussions with the members of Unit52 and director Daniel Jáquez.
