In this clever musical, an idealistic young pope (coincidentally named Pope) is framed for a crime and booted from the Catholic Church. During the ensuing media frenzy and confusion, a cruel archbishop seizes power in Vatican City and puts the grip on a disheartened populace. Only one man can face down this evil and bring the church back to its former glory: Pope! An adventure story of godly proportions, POPE! tells of a mythological struggle pitting good against evil, where all confrontations must be sung with gusto.
