A perfect antidote to election season cynicism, American Tapestry features beautiful new arrangements of familiar folk songs in addition to American standards, rousing spirituals and a heartfelt salute to those in the armed forces. Let selections like “Shenandoah,” “Beautiful River,” “Wondrous Love,” “Simple Gifts,” Copland’s “Stomp Your Foot Upon the Floor,” and Dr. Rob Istad’s own arrangement of “The Star-Spangled Banner” (which recently celebrated its 200th birthday) lift your spirits and warm your heart during this concert at Long Beach City College Auditorium.
