ARTIST QUOTE: Rant Maggie Rant co-founder, fiddler Lindsay Schindler states, “We performed our first St. Patrick’s Day concert at Hugh’s Room five years ago and we look forward to it every year since. Toronto is so much fun, our St. Paddy’s Day show is an inspiring tradition for everyone.”

Rant Maggie Rant received a Jack Richardson Music Award in the Traditional Folk/Roots category in 2013 (the awards recognize musical excellence in London, Ontario), and are eight-time traditional folk/roots and world music awards nominees, including their 2014 nomination in the World Music category, at the London Music Awards.
The core band is Stratford-based trio Lindsay Schindler (fiddle, backing vocals), Glen Dias (lead vocals, recorders, percussion) and Barry James Payne (guitars, harmonica, backing vocals). Guest musicians joining them on this tour are London, Ontario’s Steve Clark (bass) and Toronto’s Alberto Suarez (percussion) and Daev Clysdale (Irish whistle, Irish flute and accordion).
Rant Maggie Rant’s captivating use of trad-folk-world-roots-Celtic instruments and vocals and unique arrangements are each essential to the group’s sound and the audience’s journey. Their concerts feature beautiful traditional ballads, Appalachian-style grooves and killer jigs and reels.
The hard-working ensemble has performed throughout Canada and many dates in the USA. The Canadian dates in 2014 included a near sold out performance at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, London’s Home County Music Festival with Ashley MacIsaac, The Bills and The Beauties, Knox Church in Stratford with Loreena McKennitt and Trent Severn and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra.
To date, the band has released three CDs: ‘Rant Maggie Rant’ (Live album, recorded at Hugh’s Room, 2013), ‘Frost & Fire: A Celtic Christmas Celebration’ (2011) and ‘World’s Edge’ (2009). Their fourth album is currently underway.

About:
Stratford, Ontario based since 2008, Rant Maggie Rant has consistently won over audiences at festivals, folk clubs, concert halls and, yes, symphonic stages. A joyful melting pot of sound, traditionalists enjoy their time-honoured style, drawing on music from the seven Celtic nations (Ireland, Scotland, Cornwall, Wales, Isle of Mann, Galicia and Spain/Brittany, France), as well as Quebec and the Maritimes, and new Celtic listeners are drawn to their fusion of punchy roots/blues/rock guitar and world influences of hand drumming spiced with Latin, Middle Eastern and African rhythms.
