The Real Thing: Tom Stoppard’s Sharp-Witted Relationship Drama
Long Beach Playhouse – MainStage (Long Beach, CA)

This witty and incisive drama, about a famous playwright who draws on his troubled personal life and unraveling marriage to an actress to create his works, was penned by a famous playwright — Oscar and Tony-winner Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead). Deeply moving, bitingly funny and said to be at least semi-autobiographical, The Real Thing explores the complex nature of love, art and reality. The show won a Tony for Best Play in its original run and another in 2000 for its Broadway revival, and it now comes to the Long Beach Playhouse.
