Markville Shopping Centre is inviting guests to join in the celebration of Chinese New Year 2015, the year of the sheep. To commemorate the occasion, Markville will host a series of traditional Cantonese performances and interactive games on Feb 21-22.
Special guests include the Chinese Symphony Orchestra, lead by acclaimed Cantonese musician Guoshe Chen, who will serenade spectators, and Harry Hu, an internationally acclaimed performing artist, member of the Chinese Dramatist Association and Toronto’s exclusive performer of the Face-Changing (Bian Nian) ceremony.
Other events will include a Chinese Martial Arts Performance Group showcasing traditional Kung Fu, as well as a Lion Dance, a traditional dance where performers mimic a lion’s movements in full costume, involving an Eye Dotting Ceremony (waking up the lions) and Choy Ching Ceremony (feeding the lions).
