No. 2 Gets Top Billing as New West Symphony Goes Deuces Wild
Oxnard Performing Arts Center (Oxnard, CA)

Being number two sometimes gets a bad rap — just ask the silver medalist, second fiddle or Jan Brady — but in classical music, some of the beautiful works weren’t created first. Join the New West Symphony for a program that’s Dueces Wild, featuring 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition winner Sean Chen. He’ll join music director Marcelo Lehninger and the Symphony during a performance of Saint-Saëns’ dazzling “Second Piano Concerto.” Following that are a pair of works that definitely aren’t second bananas, Rachmaninov’s “Second Symphony” and Stravinsky’s “Second Suite for Small Orchestra.”
