Let Gustav Holst’s popular piece take you on a musical journey across the solar system. Marcelo Lehninger conducts the New West Symphony at the Barnum Hall Theater where you’ll hear Holst’s take on the astrological symbolism behind each of our neighboring planets. A longtime favorite of prog rock bands and movie directors, The Planets has been heard in many video games, television shows and movies. Opening the concert, rising violin star Jennifer Frautschi soars on sweeping melodies in Jean Sibelius’s virtuosic Violin Concerto in D Minor.
