The Pasadena Symphony and Pops wraps up its season by welcoming pianist Gabriela Martinez to the stage at Ambassador Auditorium. This Venezuelan award-winning artist whom The New York Times describes as “compelling, elegant and incisive” will play Grieg’s passionate Piano Concerto, a cornerstone of the Romantic repertoire. You’ll also feel the intense romance of Romeo & Juliet as conjured by one of the great Russian masters, Prokofiev, in Suites 1 and 2 of the movement, and the spiritual bliss (religious or otherwise) conveyed in Christopher Rouse’s tonal composition Rapture.
