Don’t tell the folks back in Kingston, but the future of reggae might just be in San Diego. Since the release of their debut album in 2008, SoCal band One Drop has been a pretty much constant presence on the iTunes reggae charts around the world. Embracing the classic spirit of roots reggae and dub (“One drop,” after all, being the name of the traditional reggae drum beat popularized by The Wailers), the band also blends in R&B, pop and rock elements. The resulting sound is both genuine and captivating, filled with melodic choruses, vintage guitar and organ tones, and a seductive bass line. Since their second album landed in the Billboard Reggae Top Ten, One Drop has been touring pretty much everywhere, further widening an already incredibly diverse fan base. Now the group brings brutally honest lyrics and soulful sounds to Saint Rocke. Dankrupt and Lions Named Leo will also perform.
