Immediate Family at Mark Taper Forum (Los Angeles, CA)

Comedy Directed By Phylicia Rashad Looks at Race, Sexuality and Religion: Immediate Family

Mark Taper Forum (Los Angeles, CA)

"Immediate Family"

Modern Family meets Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner in the comedy Immediate Family. Directed by two-time Emmy nominee and Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad (who knows a thing or two about family drama and comedy from her Cosby Show days), the show follows the dysfunctional Bryant family, who are coming together for the first time in five years for a wedding. Things are already tense within the family, but when son Jesse brings his Swedish boyfriend to meet the group a whole host of hilarious drama comes up. The family’s struggles over issues like race, sexuality and religion prompted the Chicago Tribune to call the play “timely and important,” and now you have a chance to see the emotional and laugh-filled show at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.
