Power, energy and passion are signature characteristics of the award-winning Viver Brasil Dance Company. Choreographic duo Linda Yudin and Luiz Badaró bring their 14-member company to L.A.’s Aratani Theatre to revel in the African heritage of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The company’s performances can easily start off as a street-wise celebration of hypnotic rhythms and samba soundscapes, then transcend into a deeply ceremonial reverence. Yudin describes their lively shows as capturing both “the rolling hips of Bahia” and “the swing and sway of a New Orleans second line parade.” Joining Viver Brasil is Rio-reared singer-songwriter Kátia Moraes, backed by her band the Brazilian Hearts. The spirited songbird has shared her effervescent energy with audiences from the Hollywood Bowl to Sydney and racked up acclaim and awards all along the way.
