When people ask singer Erin Carere what kind of music she performs, she typically offers up the rather confusing response “classical-pop-crossover-Broadway-jazz-singer-songwriter.” That’s because she does it all. “I’m like if Andrea Bocelli and Bette Midler had a baby who hung out with Leonard Cohen,” she likes to explain. Carere will touch upon her genre-defying mashup of a career in her one-woman comedy cabaret StandUpera!. The actress, playwright, radio host (etc.) will flit from stand-up comedy to singing and wacky to poignant as she tells the story of how singing wrecked her life, then saved it. The world premiere of this multi-hyphenate musical tale comes to The Other Space at The Actors Company as part of the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
