The unlikely duo of Martin Short and Dennis Quaid team up for a top-secret mission in 1988 sci-fi comedy Innerspace, returning to the big screen as part of Laemmle Theaters’ nostalgic Throwback Thursdays film series. Short plays a lovable goofball who falls head-first into an unthinkable task — protecting Quaid’s Navy pilot character, who’s been miniaturized in a secret experiment. Even crazier? The microscopic pilot and his tiny ship have been injected into his hapless protector. A young Meg Ryan joins in on the “big things, small packages” fun, as they all try to avoid a nefarious mad scientist. Directed by Joe Dante (Gremlins) and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, this out-there caper won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
