It all began in 1979, when Trent Harris was testing some color film in a parking lot and happened upon a fellow named Groovin’ Gary, who performed some impromptu impersonations on camera. That footage — combined with video from a trip to Gary’s house in Beaver, Utah, where the impersonator dressed up in drag and performed as Olivia Newton-Don — would become a cult classic, The Beaver Kid. Harris later revisited the footage and created two sequels, the first starring Sean Penn and the second Crispin Glover. Now director Brad Besser revisits the entire cult phenomenon in Beaver Trilogy Part IV, screening at REDCAT in Los Angeles as part of Outfest 2015.
