Inherit the Wind: Titans Battle in Riveting Courtroom Drama

Whitmore-Lindley Theatre Center (North Hollywood, CA)

"Inherit the Wind"

A pair of legal giants go head-to-head in Inherit the Wind, a gripping courtroom drama inspired by the historic Scopes “monkey trial.” Now, the Ghost Players Theatre Co. brings to life this masterpiece of American theater at Whitemore Lindledy Theatre Center. The story focuses on a small-town school science teacher who’s put on trial for teaching evolution, and the subsequent courtroom clash between friends and rival attorneys Drummond and Brady, standing in for the real trial’s William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow. The play first hit the stage in 1955, but the passionately argued issues of science versus faith are still amazingly timely. Inherit the Wind has been adapted into several films, including the acclaimed 1960 version directed by Stanley Kramer and starring Spencer Tracy, Fredric March and Gene Kelly.
