El Portal Theatre (North Hollywood, CA)
North Hollywood’s El Portal Theatre hosts Body, Mind & Soul of Art, a live theater revolution that combines music, dance, art, fashion, photograph, film and poetry. This exploration of both Realism and the Avant-garde was conceived and produced by Emmy nominated choreographer Alexandre Magno, who’s calculated steps for Madonna, Dancing With the Stars and more. The show features his choreography, put into motion by an eclectic array of guest artists — including singers, musicians, dancers and actors — all collaborating to create three 25-minute segments representing the body, mind and soul. You’ll see a dance performance inspired by the black and white keys of a piano, meant to symbolize the synergy of opposite forces. The music-focused segment will combine classical music with African rhythms and the third act will feature soul-stirring vocals and poetry performed in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
